A little about me….

Hometown:

Vero Beach, FL originally from Stuart, FL-

Education:

Florida State University….Go Noles!!   BS Interior Design – NCIDQ Certified – Licensed By the State of Florida to Practice Interior Design FL ID# 4636-

Current Occupation:

Owner and Principal Designer Intrinsic Designs, Inc.- Internet Junkie

Years designing:

18 years-

First design memory:

Professionally - The first day of my first design job after graduating from college.  I was dressed in high heels, pantyhose, and a mini skirt (remember Melrose Placeand the outfits Heather Locklear wore…short power suits with shoulder pads?!?!?) I arrived eager, nervous and insanely green!  I was thrown a tape measure and told to go to a job site, measure and then return to draft the plan.   It was August – in – Florida.  The job was under construction, no air conditioning or windows, dirty and filled with workmen.  What a disaster!   It took me all day and ruined my only good suit.   I have never worn a pair of panty hose since and never will!-

What would be your ultimate dream design project?

An unlimited budget with clients that agree with all of my choices and decisions.-

When designing, what can’t you live without?

The Internet and my amazing collection of design concepts.  I have binders and binders of work I like, photographs that inspire me, and furniture I want to make.    I’ve been collecting the photos for years. -

At what point of the day do you feel most inspired?

Usually inspiration comes at or around midnight, right before or as I am falling asleep just to keep me up and thinking.  The other place is in the car.  As soon as I get in I remember 100 things to do.  My assistant always knows it’s me when the phone rings 3 minutes after I leave.-

What is one thing that others don’t know about you?

My own house is a DISASTER!  I have never had the time to do my own house.  I laugh when people get worried about inviting me over…if they only knew!!  Well now they do.-

What did you aspire to be as a child?

I always knew I wanted to be a designer.  I have a scrap book that my Grandmother started for me when I was in 1st grade.  She had filled it with cool photographs and gave it to me to finish.  I ended up filling it with room cut outs from the Sears catalog.  I hadn’t seen it in years until I had to clean out the attic of my parents home when it was being sold.  When I looked through it I was amazed and realized I always knew what I wanted to be…it just took me a while to get there.-

Strangest design request:

To match things or purchase suites ??  I don’t understand why or how America was ever led to believe things need to match.  COMPLIMENT is the way to go…never match. -

My secret to design:

I never forget who I am designing for.  My ultimate goal is Always to make each clients home a true reflection of them.    I know that at the end of the day I don’t live there, and if that means compromise I will compromise within the limits of good design.  Resulting in an amazing finished product that ultimately makes my clients happy.  Happy clients, refer new clients.   -
